I know a lot of our customers have the added worry about being able to keep purchasing items to support their horses, and we totally get this.
I write this as a small family business with children and vulnerable family members. I watch what is happening in the world, and it genuinely frightens me. I see business (big and small) who will not be able to pay their bills, I see people who are at risk, and I see a world in shock.
This isn't a "business" post that we have all received, most of which felt like a way for companies to spam us. This is me writing down my thoughts and trying to keep everyone updated as things change and to update everyone on how we are dealing with the current situation.
As of today 23/03/2020, we are still open and shipping orders, the most significant difference is we are no longer holding stock. As orders are received we are ordering from the UK manufacturers, stock arrives with us typically by the next day. The exception to this is Equine America and KM Elite who generally are 48 hours (they also tend to have more out of stock items).
All manufacturers are still open and trading, however at some point this is likely to change, either through a government shutdown or due to the fact that people are ill and having to self-isolate.
As a family, we are social distancing from the outside world, as a business, we have minimal contact with the outside world. Couriers leave parcels outside, the collection is the same.
When items are received, they are wiped down, we wash hands before packing orders and after.
We are following government guidance as a family and as a business.
It is looking highly likely that the government will issue a lock-down of sorts, at what level no one knows. They are clearly disappointed in people not taking their advice about social distancing. However seeing so many retailers announce today they are closing and many parks shutting down, maybe they won't feel it necessary.
My personal view is that is it coming in the next few days, I don't see they have a lot of choice. The biggest question is, will we all be told to stay at home, or will they allow some businesses to continue. For many, we would not be seen as an essential business. However, I know our customers would disagree. With this in mind, we will do whatever we can to continue supporting you.
I will keep adding things, both from a family and business perspective. Please keep in contact, and most importantly try and keep safe. We are all in this together and everyone of us plays a part.
